Can One Sleep in a Lace Front Wig?

Lace front wigs provide one with an opportunity to look stylish and classy, even when they are having a bad hair day or undergoing hair loss. A good looking lace front wig should mimic your natural hairline, and can even pass for your actual hair!

If you are a frequent wig wearer, you have probably wondered whether you could sleep in your lace front wig.

While it is possible to sleep in your lace front wig, the friction between your wig and the pillow can significantly decrease the lifetime of your wig, unless extra care and precautions are put in place. One of them is tying our hair in a ponytail and covering your wig with a silk cap.

How to Maintain Your Lace Front Wigs During Bedtime

If you want to extend the lifetime of your wigs, the following maintenance routines must be followed:

  1. Moisturize your wig

Before jumping into bed, apply a moisturizer or styling lotion. This keeps your hair well hydrated through the night, making your wig look refreshed in the morning.

  1. Detangling

Use a brush to thoroughly but gently detangle your hair. Brushing helps in maintaining the wigs in a detangled state that could lead to breakages.

  1. Silk Pillowcases

Friction is among the leading causes of hair breakage and can be reduced by sleeping on silk or satin pillowcases. Besides being soft and smooth, silk has a soothing feeling that can help you sleep better compared to cotton pillowcases.

  1. Satin or Silk Bonnet

Regularly covering your hair in a satin bonnet or scarf when going to bed can help you maintain your lace front wig for many months. Silk helps in maintaining the texture of your wigs and reduces the friction between the sleeping surface and your hair.

Sleeping in a lace front wig will help you save time and makes it easy to prepare in the morning. If the correct routine is followed, there is nothing to worry about.
